Minutes of the Katrina Conference Call 1-31-06
A list-serve has been created to respond to the need for a way to disseminate information and a venue in which to seek answers to questions about the legal rights of poor people who have been affected by natural disasters in Florida. Membership in this discussion group is limited to legal aid and legal service providers and other non-profit community based organizations with an interest in disaster-related issues that affect poor people
As we are all well aware, Florida must now recover from the devastation created by Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. In a short period of time, most of the state has been affected by the storms and, therefore, most legal services and legal aid advocates are facing unique issues. To help in getting information to everyone, creating a dialogue among the different substantive areas and having a venue for questions specific to disaster-related issues, we would like to create a separate list-serve to be called Poverty Advocates Florida Disaster Discussion Group. Even if you have little damage in your service area, you could prove very helpful to those practicing in another part of the state.
When you click on the link below, you
will automatically be taken to your e-mail program which will send a
message to Yahoo Groups letting Florida Legal Services (FLS) know that you
want to become a member of this new list-serve. Please write in that
message your full name and the full name and location (city and county) of
your employer (because that is not always obvious from your return e-mail
address).
This discussion group will be limited
to legal aid and legal service providers and other non-profit community
based organizations with an interest in disaster-related issues that
affect poor people. If you want us
to send an invitation to someone working on these issues at a non-profit
CBO (Community-Based organization) in your area,
please include that person's name and e-mail address in the join-up
message you send to Yahoo Groups when you click on the link below. FLS
will see your message and be able to send a follow-up invitation.
To subscribe to the new listserv, send an e-mail to: FL_disaster_group@yahoogroups.com
Please write in that message your full name and the full name and location (city and county) of your employer (because that is not always obvious from your return e-mail address).
