Florida Veterans Justice Project

The Florida Veterans Justice Project (FVJP) was created in 2025 at Florida Legal Services thanks to generous funding from Funding Florida Legal Aid (FFLA). Our mission is to restore justice to low-income Florida Veterans who need assistance with discharge upgrades, VA benefits, and other civil legal issues.

We encourage you to complete our online intake to see if we can provide free legal services to you in the following areas:

  1. Discharge Upgrades

  2. Initial VA claims & appeals

  3. Apportionment of VA benefits & rating increases for incarcerated Veterans

  4. VA overpayment disputes

  5. Contesting VA rating reductions

  6. DD-214 name corrections for Veterans

If you meet our initial criteria in the online intake, you will receive a follow up phone call, email, or text to complete a full intake. You will need to be ready with information about your household size, household income, etc. to complete the intake.

If you are unable to complete an online intake, please call us at: (855) 801-4811 and leave a detailed message with your name, phone number, best times to reach you, and type of legal issue you need help with.

Florida Legal Services urges Veterans to avoid for-profit companies ("claim sharks") that charge illegal, high fees to help with VA disability claims. These unaccredited entities often target Veterans, promising higher, faster payouts while taking a percentage of benefits. Protect what’s yours, avoid predatory practices: Don’t feed the “Claim Sharks”
